When it rains, it pours……..

At the start of the week we took the opportunity (for the first time since re-opening) to do some planning and general maintenance ahead of the 19th July guidance changes. We had some electrical and boiler issues which were restricting service.

Unfortunately, we have now had several of the team ‘pinged’ and one positive COVID test result confirmed. We have taken the decision to ask all those in close contact with the team member to self-isolate. This is not easy on the members of the team who are showing no symptoms but it is for the greater good of the entire team and customers.

Many of our team have been completing lateral flow tests twice per week as part of our own internal controls and have been consistently reporting negative results. Since the positive result was highlighted, all the other members of the team have completed lateral flow tests and all reported negative results. Further tests are being completed before shifts alongside temperature checks at the start and finish of each shift.

The members of the team working for the remainder of the week had not come into direct contact with the team member who tested positive.

The health and welfare of our team and customers is paramount so we have decided to temporarily close the kitchen as our current staffing levels would be overstretched to run the bar and kitchen at present. All our procedures are being reviewed and we are waiting further updates from track and trace. The member of the team was not in direct contact with customers and we have been given no directive to contact any customers. However, if things change we will update everyone accordingly.

Customers are welcome to bring food into the beer garden from any of our fabulous local cafes and takeaways on the high street until we re-open the kitchen.

We will update everyone on Friday 16th July when we have had the opportunity to confirm the status of all our team after their PCR tests have been confirmed.

Unfortunately, we are not the first hospitality or retail business to be affected and won’t be the last and many of our friends are struggling. We thank everyone for their continued support, which really does help the team and we wish everyone all the best.
